    Dear BCS families,

The Berlin Community School is a great place to learn not only for the students but for the staff as well. We continue to learn best practices in education and implement those practices into the daily instruction. With the whole child in mind, we place significant importance on teaching the 6 Pillars of Character Education to our students. This year's character education theme is Ordinary Heroes. We feel that every student is a hero and posses the qualities to do great things. As educators, it is our responsibility to foster those qualities by giving the students the opportunity to explore, create, and question as they learn.

Please take some time to review the website as it houses some very valuable information about all the school has to offer our families. On the front page of the website, you can find the calendar of events and the morning announcements. The PALS/CER page is such a great resource to parents as it offers many after school programs. Also, look out for my Highlights which are emailed to parents as well as posted on the front page of the website. Highlights let parents know in a twitter type fashion what is going on in the school.

Please feel free to reach out to me at any time.  I am a firm believer that a parent is a child's first teacher and is their best advocate. I look forward to being a part of your child's education.

    Sincerely,

    Shelly Ward Richards, Ed.D.
